SC calendar

At the Alumni Meeting today, the idea was discussed of building a SC calendar to support Centenary awareness. A list of important dates of events you were involved in e.g. Ethiopia famine awareness, Rwanda atrocity, the Tsunami ….and some UK dates e.g. education acts, good Friday etc.
The idea would be to create a context for sc campaigns throughout the year e.g. in sc UK’s centenary year, we are reminded that today 45 years ago the Vietnam war came to an end which impacted the lives of children by xy and z. SC were at the time providing ….etc.

Do you have dates and info we could use like this? Please list here if you do and wouldn’t mind helping.

Here area couple of centenary dates from me. All welcome to my regional talks on Eglantyne Jebb, all proceeds to SCF…

Please do get in touch if there is a literary festival or history society near you that might be interested in a talk on Jebb!

– 6 March, Jebb talk, Thaxted Lecture Society, Essex

– 11 April, ‘The Woman Who Saved the Children’, my biography of Eglantyne Jebb, republished!
All royalties donated to SCF. Please spread the word!

– 9 May, SCF gala at Roundhouse

– 13 May, talk on Jebb at Saffron Walden Museum

– 16 May, talk on Jebb at Marlborough Historical Society

– 20 May, New bronze bust of Jebb unveiled at the Royal Albert Hall.
Should we have an unveiling at SCF that evening/next day for staff, volunteers & alumni?

– 23 June, Jebb talk, Wimpole History Festival, Cambs

– 25/30 June, Jebb talk, Chalke Valley History Festival, Wilts

– 4 July, Jebb talk, SCF Nottingham

Pete, would it be possible to add all centenary events, including the LSE conference Mike mentioned, the gala, etc to a spreadsheet or diary on this site for people to see and add to?
