      Dear All,

I thought his might be of interest and am pasting below the invitation email that Save the Children has been sending out.

      Mike

      BEGINS
      Dear

In May 2019, Save the Children will be 100 years old. In our Centenary year we are launching a campaign to double global efforts to make sure children survive, thrive and are protected and we would be hugely privileged if you would be part of this moment in our history.

Save the Children was founded by Eglantyne Jebb in 1919. Her mission was simple – to fight for children left sick and starving following the First World War. Ever since then, we’ve been there when children have needed us most: in famine, in conflict and in crisis, helping to change the lives of millions of children no matter their religion or race. Time and again, we’ve made our experience count – from the Vietnam War to the Rwandan genocide. Whether it’s responding to conflict, famine, earthquakes or tsunamis, together with our supporters, we’ve reached millions of children.

See Me Safe Symposium – Hosted by Save the Children and Chatham House
Tuesday 7 May 2019, Church House Westminster
      Sponsored by Castle Water

Eglantyne Jebb issued a challenge to the world to stop “wars against children”. But today more children are growing up in war zones than at any time in the last 20 years. As conflict becomes increasingly urban, homes, schools and playgrounds have become the frontline. Children have seen and experienced things no child ever should: their homes burnt, their families killed, and their innocence stolen.

Right now, from Yemen to Myanmar, Syria to Somalia, Save the Children is supporting children in the toughest situations – helping them survive, be safe, recover and get the chance to learn. Chatham House is a world-leading policy institute working to help governments and societies build a sustainably secure, prosperous and just world. A partnership for change, See Me Safe will bring together experts, policy-makers, academics, philanthropists and business leaders to propose practical solutions to protect children in conflict and inspire support to rebuild children’s lives.

See Me Safe is kindly sponsored by Castle Water, whose committed support for Save the Children has helped to ensure children caught up in conflicts and emergencies around the world have access to the life-saving essentials they desperately need.

To secure your place please contact specialevents@savethechildren.org.uk by Tuesday 2 April. The event is free to attend but there is a suggested contribution of £100 per place if you are able (no obligation). We would be delighted if you would join us.

      With best wishes
